Projects

Select one from the following topics and prepare a 10-15 minute presentation. You can use slides, demos, or any other format that you find suitable. The presentation should cover the key concepts, benefits, challenges, and real-world applications of the chosen topic. You will be evaluated based on the depth of your research, and clarity of your presentation.

Presentation I Topics

  1. Software Quality Assurance Best Practices
  2. Automated Testing Strategies
  3. Risk Management in Software Projects
  4. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  5. Case Studies of Software Failures and Lessons Learned

Final Presentation Topics

PPTs are required for the submission of the final presentation, and make sure you submit your files before or on the presentation day. Late submission policy applied to this assignment.

For your presentation topic, you need to choose a topic that we covered after midterm (either ISO family or CMMI). You may choose one of the 22 CMMI process areas in CMMI we have covered, and please expand on one process area based on your own interests. For example, you could choose one process area and explain why it matters in your opinion and how an organization might improve it.

Some examples of the CMMI process areas are listed below:

  • Level 2 (Managed): Requirements Management (REQM), Project Planning (PP), Project Monitoring and Control (PMC), Measurement and Analysis (MA), Process and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA), Configuration Management (CM).
  • Level 3 (Defined): Technical Solution (TS), Product Integration (PI), Verification (VER), Validation (VAL), Organizational Process Focus (OPF), Organizational Process Definition (OPD), Organizational Training (OT), Integrated Project Management (IPM), Risk Management (RSKM), Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR)
  • Level 4 (Quantitatively Managed) and Level 5 (Optimizing): Organizational Process Performance (OPP), Quantitative Project Management (QPM), Causal Analysis and Resolution (CAR)

One common question is How to expand on the topic? For example, in CM, you can discuss GitHub as a popular tool for version control and configuration management, and how it can be used to manage code changes, track issues, and collaborate with team members. You can also discuss the importance of version control in software development and how it helps teams maintain a history of changes, revert to previous versions if needed, and manage conflicts when multiple developers are working on the same codebase.

As always, please feel free to reach out to the instructor if you have any questions or need further guidance on your presentation topic. You can also refer to the course materials and additional resources for more information.
